Our vineyards
Our vineyards
Click to enlarge Our winery draws on 80 hectares of own vines, cultivated according to the principles mentioned.

We take great pains to care for our vines, allowing the climate and the soil to shape its character, which later we appreciate in the end result. The marked contrast between day and night temperatures gives rise to an excellent balance between sugar and acidity.

The characteristics of the soil also play their part, helping to achieve good aeration and drainage in the rainy season, at the same time that the clay substrata retain water reserves for dry years. Over this magical combination rules the sun, taking care of the rest until harvest time.
The Verdejo variety
Click to enlarge The Verdejo variety has been found in this area for centuries, some believe as far back as the 11th Century, from the time of the reign of Alfonso VI.
In this era there were human settlements in the river Duero basin: Cantabrians, Basques and Mozarabs.

They were those who brought the variety Verdejo, proceeding from the north of Africa or of the previous settlements in the south of Spain.
Sauvignon Blanc
Click to enlarge Known and appreciated worldwide, this variety was introduced into the Rueda D.O. in the ’70s, adding a certain modern and international air to the region.
It originates from the Loire, in France, where it is a fundamental element of the White Bordeaux wines.
It has adapted brilliantly to our region. The differences in soil and climate, longer hours of sunshine than in the Bordeaux Loire region, permit us in part to obtain some remarkable and singular results.
Viura
Click to enlarge Viura started to be grown in our region in the ’50s. At that time, the classic model for a white wine was to have barrel conditioning. Viura brought a touch of “elegance” to the table wines of Castile. Those were other times. The fabulous potential of the Verdejo variety was still to be discovered.

Viura complements the Verdejo variety beautifully, adding lightness and “a smile” to Viura’s “seriousness”.
